Young scientist school

Ukrainian scientific community is those great source of development of society that can not only diagnose the causes of problematic situations, but also helps to develop an efficient and effective recommendations for their solution and implementation. A development of young scientific elite has become a priority in the activities of the state if the latter wish as the fastest access to the highest technological structures.

To assist in the development of young scientist and the development of young scientific elite is the purpose of young scientists school as an educational and research project, aimed at improving the competitiveness of domestic science through mastery of knowledge by young scientists from non-core areas such as creative thinking, team building, project management, science management and marketing and others.

To ensure national science by staffing capacity, which has a creative thinking and new approaches to the implementation of their research projects, in 2007 the Council of Young Scientists of Dnipropetrovsk region, headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Vlasov S.F. , realized the project ” School of Young Scientist – leader in science. “

It was the first School, the idea of the creation and implementation of which found support at all levels. The school participants were 25 young scientists, mostly heads of Councils of Young Scientists of institutes of institutes of higher education /scientific research institution. The main purpose of the School was to raise the intellectual, spiritual, cultural and scientific levels of young scientists, allowing them to concentrate their research on the study of the objective and subjective conditions that shape theirs future.

In the first year of the School work was held 8 sessions, the main ones were:

1. Donor search technology and preparing projects for grants (moderator Shpirka I.I., chairman of the Dnepropetrovsk community fund);

2. Evolution of missile specialist DPO in 60 – 80th of the XX century. Eureka and the development of creative thinking (moderator: E.I.Repet’a, head of Patent Investigation Research Division “DB “Pivdenne”);

3. History of development of scientific schools and criterion of it’s estimation (moderator V.S. Savchuk, Doctor of Historical Science, Professor of Department of physics of the Dnipropetrovsk National University).

By the way, according to the latest studies, in the Dnipropetrovsk region had implemented the project “Scientific potential of Dnipropetrovsk” dedicated to research schools, universities and research institutes in Dnipropetrovsk region.

The results of the first School proves the necessity and availability of getting of interdisciplinary knowledge by young scientists of Dnipropetrovsk region and it was a prerequisite of creating and implementing the Second School for Young Scientists.

The second “School of young scientist – the leader in science” worked during 2008. And it has already visited twice as many of young scientists of Dnipropetrovsk region than the previous one. The participants of the Second School were selected based of previously conducted survey as the most self-motivated young scientists of institutes of higher education /scientific research institution of the region.

The second school within the meaning was completely different as previous one and included seven studies, which included:

1. Experience in preparation of projects for grants (Moderators: S.Ph.Vlasov, Doctor of Technical Science, Professor of Department of underground mining of the National Mining University);

2. Experience in preparation of innovative projects (moderator V.M. Bilyakov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, director of the State budget agency Dnipropetrovsk regional center of innovation development);

3. Experience in the organization of CC “Agro-Soyuz” (moderator G.D. Gubarenko, director of the Center of Innovation and Active Development of Corporation “Agro-Soyuz”).

Unlike the first school, “The school of young scientists – the leader in science” in 2008 was aimed at enhancing of young scientists to organize work towards participation in projects and grants.

For the purpose of definition the direction of the III-rd School were analized the results of the previous conducted survey which determined the list of topics for consideration. That system of survey to determine the actual issues formed the basis for planning next “Schools of the young scientist – a leader in science.”

There were 50 visitors – the most motivated young scientists of region in”School for young scientists – the leader in Science” in 2009 as in 2008. The total number of sessions was 7 lectures.

Work of “School of young scientist – a leader in science” in 2009, as the previous one, was aimed at enhancing of young scientists towards participation in projects and grants, but incoming questionnaires prompted more attention to the issue’s development of personal qualities, without which has no leader. Hence, the main themes of the School of the young scientist in 2009 were:

1. Effective negotiation and communication (moderator V.K. Goryachev, deputy of the head of the Department of Education and Science of Dnipropetrovsk City Council);

2. Development of creative thinking (creatology) (moderator S.V. Antonenko, Associate professor of National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine);

3. Practical Time Management (moderator N.A. Lysenko, candidate of Technological Science., Associate professor of Dnipropetrovsk National University).

2009 was a year of awareness of the need to change the concept of school of young scientist. As a result, in 2010 the regional competition “Young scientists to Dnipropetrovsk region” to receive incentive was the work “School of young scientists – the leader in science.” This work was prepared by active group of Council of Young Scientists of Dnipropetrovsk region and in the results of the 2nd round of the competition this project received funding.

School in 2011 had a significant difference from previous ones, as her work was based on the principle of training. Number of training within the school was 12. Classes were conducted by business coaches who at the professional level providing consulting services in the appropriate directions.

The main training sessions, which were held in 2011, include:

1. Personal effectiveness and self-management (moderator T.G. Kahiany, a practicing psychologist, business coach of Dnepropetrovsk Business Center);

2. Rules of effective public speaking (moderator L.I. Ziukova, practicing psychologist, business coach of Dnipropetrovsk center of social and psychological support);

3. How to achieve success? Targeting Development (moderator O.S. Kirina, a practicing psychologist, psychology and development center “Kviten’”).

As a result of lessons and training in School for young scientists in 2011 was published a handbook “School for young scientists – leaders in science”, containing printed consolidated information of the basis of the method of organization and training of young scientists.

Experience of creating, organizing and conducting of School of young scientist by Dnipropetrovsk RCYS is those unique experience of Dnipropetrovsk which increasing its competitiveness not only in Ukraine, but also abroad.

As a result of participation in the “School of young scientists – the leader in science” of all years, all participants received certificates of training.

But the most important result of the work of the School of Young Scientists is development of intercollegiate and interinstitute connections, creating teams of young scientists who are able to solve actual problems of not only the region and Ukraine as a whole. A striking example of this is effective participation of School’s graduate in competitions and grants of different levels.

We hope that the knowledge and skills acquired in the School of young scientists, will be a solid foundation in the new significant achievements for young scientists.
